We have just set up an exhibition in the library on the history of the College. This is to mark 150 years of theological education in this building, and 15 years of Sarum College. It's worth a look, and includes items from the library and from the Record Office. This is in time for the College's Open Day on Saturday 19th. June.

The winner of the Michael Ramsay Prize, 'Jesus and the Eyewitnesses' by Richard Bauckham, is in the library and available to be borrowed.
The prize was set up in 2003 to identify the most promising contemporary theological writing for a wide Christian readership.
One of the judges said of this year's winner, 'Richard Bauckham...placed something of a bomb under a good deal of New Testament scholarship. His book shows why we are right to have confidence in the testimony of those who personally witnessed the life of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels'.
There is more information at http://www.michaelramseyprize.org.uk/

Anyone who has read 'The English Chorister' may wish to listen to Radio 4 next week. Author Alan Mould says:
2 p.m. (I think) April 1st, repeated 3 p.m. (I think) April 3rd -> Radio 4 - a programme about choristers on which you may hear a familiar> voice!

Take a look at the latest list of recent books added to the library – click on 'latest additions' on the menu. It's a great list! To highlight a few titles:
‘Life beyond death’ by our own Vernon White, the book of the 2005 Sarum Theological Lectures.
‘The God delusion’ – Richard Dawkins’ latest. The book everyone is talking about – make sure you have your comment.
‘Let the Children come’ by Stephen Lake – a timely look at communion before confirmation.
Jane Williams’ beautifully illustrated ‘Angels’.
Michael Mayne’s final book ‘the Enduring Melody’, described by his friend Alan Bennett as ‘An heroic book. Begun in health as a meditation on a lifetime’s faith and experience, it ends in mortal sickness…but his courage, his humour and his tone of voice do not desert him: humbling and inspirition, it is a validation both of his faith and his humanity’.
For something a little lighter, try the charming ‘year at Bottengoms Farm’ by Ronald Blythe.
Among the other 36 is Common Worship ‘Times and Seasons’.
Any book can be posted to library members and can be reserved if on loan.
Add your comments on what you think of the list - or on any of the books once you have read them!

Have you seen our display of books, tapes and music for Advent and Christmas? 'Jesus' Christmas Party' is a great story to read to children; 'Making liturgy: creating rituals for worship and life' includes sample liturgies for Advent and Epiphany; 'The Donkey's tale' is a Christmas musical.
Amongst the display are books on angels, on the virgin birth, Christmas poetry, carol books and tapes of Christmas concerts.
Come and have a look - or contact us if you would like some to be posted to you.
